Keeping your windshield clear in inclement weather can make all the difference in arriving safely at your destination. That's why it is important to make sure your Chevrolet Tahoe always has good wipers installed that remove all moisture or debris from the windshield during a storm. You can usually get your wiper blades changed at facilities that perform oil changes and other basic car maintenance tasks, but you can also change the wiper blades on a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe on your own.

Difficulty: Moderate

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wiper blades
  1. 1

Lift the windshield wiper arm away from the window. Once you pull the wiper arm up, it stands in an upright position on its own.

  2. 2

Rotate the blade so that it is at a 90 degree angle to the arm. Locate the tab that holds the wiper blade to the arm, which appears on the side that is closest to you if you stand at the side of the car.

  3. 3

Pull the tab away from the windshield wiper arm and pull the wiper blade away from the arm. The blade releases and slides off.

  4. 4

Place the new wiper blade against the arm so that the bracket in the middle of the wiper blade is lined up with the opening at the "hook" of the windshield wiper arm. Push the blade upward into the hook until it locks.

  5. 5

Move the arm of the windshield wiper back down. Make sure that the blade is turned toward the windshield. The blade should lay flat against the windshield.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you install the proper size of wiper blade on the 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe. This information should be in the owner's manual for the car. According to Car-Stuff, a 2006 Chevy Tahoe uses a 22-inch wiper blade.
